There is nothing like saying "I love you Canada" and that's what I was really saying when I stitched this little piece.  I did this for a Canadian Swap on Craftster and thought it was most fitting.  I must say that there are some discrepancies in my Baffin Islands and some places were literally three stitches ( PEI) but it was a lot of fun. I used satin stitch in alternating diagonals to get the geometrical feel. I can really tell where I started and where I finished because I was getting better at the stitch as I went! Hope you like it... and for my American followers, I like you too, but Canada is my home!

R for Red Quilled Monogram!

Here is my latest Quilled monogram. I had never done this with Reds before and did I ever enjoy it! It's very cool what happens with this type of quilling when you put different colours together, the shadows get so interesting! The Warm tones I used in this were quite exploratory, I fiddled with them until they  had a good flow.  I also tried a couple of different accent colours to see which one would fit best. I settled on Puce green and goldenrod yellow - they seemed to work best!

Different light and different angles really changes how you view these! Also because this Monogram was about her Family's last name, I tried to reflect that a bit in the design.  In the R there is a heart surrounded by many swirls, see if you can find it!

Featured Embroiderer on Craftster!

Recently on a website I frequent far too often called Craftster.org, I was honoured with a feature interview about my "Dementor vs Patronus" Embroidery hoop that I created... It was really exciting as I have been a part of that community for over a year now, and there are some incredibly talented folks who present their pieces in this community. Having this featured interview was kind of like getting a nice big hug from these folks so I thought I would give a shout out and thanks to them from here.

P.S.If you haven't checked out the amazing arts, craft and fine work on Craftster.org, I would suggest you block off an afternoon and gawk at the talented artisans who post their pieces on there. It's pretty cool stuff!

Quilled Octopus Frollicking in the Sea!

This Octopus is my newest Quilled Paper piece. It is an orginal quilling design which is my First Octopus of Two that I am working on. I also have drawings for a whole series of sea creatures, so I have a lot of ideas rumbling about. This took me quite a long time but it was really fun to do. The Waves were my favourite part.

There are so many little tiny tight curls in there! It's pretty neat what happens with different light too.
This is also for sale on my Etsy Page, should you be so inclined to add this to your walls!

Questionable Robot NR31- Embroidery

This is the third in my Questionable Robot series.  I wanted to make him slightly more philosophical.

What is the Nature of reality? I think that I approached this question in several of my philosophy classes in good ole University. I never did very well in my philosophy classes, Perhaps if I had a robot to posit solutions I would have done better.

Here is what I was thinking about when I made him!

Questionable Robot NR31 has found himself computing on a question which there is not simply one answer to. He has asked "What is the nature of Reality?" Is reality simply what our senses tell us? For a robot that limits his reality as his senses are different than ours. Is his reality different from ours? Is yours different from the next persons? Do we create our own realities? This robot has spent a great deal of time in one place just researching what others have said on this topic as well as his own interpretations... He predicts he won't need to ask another question for quite some time as this one seems to keep him busy.

I think this will be the last one I do... I like them, but I have conjured up 5 paper quilling designs that I intend to do, I just have to sit down to quill them...  That will be next on the block for sure.  I will keep you posted.

Questionable Robot LUV41- embroidery

Questionable Robot LUV4 is the newest in my Questionable Robot series.  I had a lot of fun with him... he was so cute to begin with!

Here are my crazy thoughts about him:

Questionable Robot LUV41 is a robot in a conundrum. He recently met a very sweet robot of whom he has taken a liking to, and he has heard of this idea of love, but he does not know how to make it compute. He knows what definitions of love tell him, but that does not allow him to fully understand. After thinking about this question for several days, his eyes turned into hearts and bubbles shaped like hearts began appearing around him.
His eyes give him that sucker punched by love kind of look. I think it makes him look cartoony.

He is in an 8 inch hoop. He is also for sale on my Etsy page...
