A Quiller Ukulele

I have been working a new series surrounding music and how it connects with me emotionally and I would be remiss if I didn't include a ukulele. I started playing the uke three years ago, when my hubby gave it to me for Valentine's day.  It is an intensely joyful instrument and it lends itself to creating wonderfully tinny chords against my singing.  I took the Ukulele with me to El Salvador, and the kids loved it. So every time I play it now, I am reminded of them as well.
This piece will be feature in an Art Show with Gallery 96 "For the love of Paper" at Factory 163, in Stratford, ON from Sept 21-29th.

A Quiller Violin

This Violin is part of my newest set of pieces around Music.  I have always been passionate about music and art. This series is a reflection of how listening to music connects with my emotions.  I can't say I am a person who always listens to classical music, but when I do, I can easily lose myself in it, my imagination swirling around me with the images that listening to it creates. I love the sense of the dramatic that seems to ooze out of it.
This piece will be featured in an Art Show at Gallery 96 "For the love of Paper" at Factory 163 in Stratford, ON, from Sept 21st - 29th.

A Quiller Horn

In my life I have had many artistic passions, Art as one, and Music definitely as another.  I can't say that I have every played any horned instruments, as I was a clarinet player and singer in school, but I have always had a love for it's sound.  Sometimes it is easy to forget how simple it is to turn a day that's gone poorly into a day of reflection and ease when you listen to the right kind of music.
So,  I have started a series on music and how it makes me feel. Focusing mainly on the instruments and using abstract forms to demonstrate my emotional attachment to the sound they create.  There will be several more pieces in the series.  I can't say how many there will be as I very much love creating them but that there will be more!
This piece will also be featured in the Gallery 96 show "For the Love of Paper" at Factory 163 in Stratford, ON, from Sept 21st to the 29th.

Experiment with Abstract Quilling

I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out when I started it, but I wanted to try out some experimental ideas that I had been playing with in colour and shape.  I find that when I am stressed out, I tend to doodle a pattern similar to this one, so I thought I would funnel my frustrations into a piece.
I am happy with the way it turned out, It's feels vibrant, colourful and playful which is great for me as it was taking feelings of frustration and turning them into something positive.  Also  I found a great frame for my pieces with a beautiful recess in behind the glass.

A beautiful Paper quilled gift

I created these two Paper quilled pieces for a birthday Gift for some very lucky twin girls.  My client was gracious enough to send me this lovely photo of the birthday party and I couldn't help but want to share it! The pieces featured butterflies and flowers surrounding their names.

Otter + Water + Monogram - a quiller combo

I was asked to create a very personal piece for a client featuring a watery surround  for a monogram with an otter swimming in it. I had great fun sketching this piece up and even more fun quilling it.  I find it really difficult with things like animals to create clear definition so you can understand what the shape is when quilling, so I was really happy with the way this otter turned out.
 Pretty fun, Eh?
